Innovations in treatment with hearing implants (Med. Univ. Vienna)

For the first time a so-called "floating electrode" was implanted as part of a cochlear implant to preserve residual hearing. Researchers at the Medical University of Vienna developed a minimally invasive insertion technique and played an important role in the design of this new electrode (diameter: 0.2mm instead of 0.5mm).
