This tool is intended for the fitting of EAS subjects or to evaluate the electrode insertion. The tool is to identify the number of electrodes in the acoustic region or how many electrode contacts are from the defined acoustic region. The acoustic region can be defined from 60 to 85dB HL. For the fitting purposes the acoustic region is defined at 65dB HL from the postoperative audiogram.
The precision of this tool is +24 °, which accounts for +0.84mm. Please mind that this uncertainty is not accounted for the estimated number of electrodes in the acoustic region, but it is visualized in the graph.
The necessary input is hearing levels at characteristic frequencies, electrode insertion angle, electrode insertion depth, type of array, type of surgery (RW/cochleostomy – default 1mm from RW).
