This year’s HEARRING Meeting was hosted by Prof. Mario Zernotti from the Otico Hearing Center in Córdoba, Argentina.
The focus of the HEARRING meeting 2015 was on the treatment of middle ear malformations as well as on middle ear and bone conduction implants. Several multicenter studies have been started, including research on genetic markers, the use of corticoid steroids in cochlear implantation and the reliability of cochlear implants. The participants took part in valuable discussions, formulating a consensus for hearing preservation in cochlear implantation for children.
Additionally, Prof. Ana Bélen Elgoyhen (Instituto de Investigaciones en Ingeniería Genética y Biología Molecular, Buenos Aires) delivered a very interesting keynote lecture on the importance of the efferent system in hearing to the HEARRING members.
